State Emergency Service warns of cold weather and strong winds over the weekend

Starting today and throughout the weekend, Ukraine will experience a significant cooling accompanied by strong wind gusts up to 20 m/s.

This was announced during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine by Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, spokesman for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“We will observe the drop in temperatures today, Saturday and Sunday. Thermometers will show low temperatures – down to -8°C, and in mountainous areas even down to -14°C,” he said.

Khorunzhyi also noted that wind gusts of up to 20 m/s are expected across Ukraine starting today. He provided safety recommendations to help prevent emergencies in windy conditions.

“Today and tomorrow, wind gusts will reach 15-20 m/s. In these conditions, I urge people to, firstly, wear sturdy shoes with good grip and, secondly, avoid parking vehicles under billboards, trees or power lines, as strong gusts can topple these structures, posing a risk to property and potentially causing emergencies,” he warned.
