Сourt’s ruling regarding downed flight MH17 confirms beginning of russian aggression back in 2014 – Gyunduz Mamedov

The ruling of the court regarding the downing of passenger flight MH17 confirmed that the russian aggression against Ukraine began in 2014, and not on February 24, 2022. Gyunduz Mamedov, expert on national and international criminal law, candidate of law, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine in 2019-2021 made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Both on international legal platforms and within Ukrainian society, there has always been an opinion that the aggression of the russian federation began on February 24. The court confirmed that russia’s aggression against Ukraine began back in 2014. We can say that the Dutch court’s decision recognized the russian federation as a party to the conflict. This indicates that the russian federation exercised overall effective control over these territories. There should be no doubt in society, in the international community, that there is an armed conflict in Ukraine. It is not an internal one, as is usually said, but an international one. And this conflict has been going on since 2014,” – Mamedov noted.
