Some 5,000 buildings destroyed in Sumy region — Acting Head of Oblast Military Administration

As of today, about 5,000 buildings have been destroyed in the territory of Sumy region. 2,600 of them are detached houses. However, 1,700 buildings have already been fully restored.

Taras Savchenko, Acting Head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration, made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The majority of destroyed (buildings) are detached houses. Unfortunately, there is an increase in the number of destroyed detached houses due to shelling. Of the 5,000 destroyed buildings, 2,600 are detached houses. There are also destroyed hospitals, educational institutions, apartment buildings and road infrastructure,” — he said.

According to Taras Savchenko, top priorities for recovery include critical infrastructure, energy and water supply facilities, and bridge management facilities.

“In this regard we are both recovering and boosting the defense of these facilities against attacks,” — he added.

According to the acting head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration, the priority now is the restoration of apartment buildings.

“Over the past year, about 260 apartment buildings have been restored, mainly in the territory of Okhtyrka district, which suffered from hostilities the most,” — Taras Savchenko said.

He also added that the state program, which was adopted by the government last year, provided an opportunity to restore detached houses.
