Some 450 trucks queue at blocked checkpoints for entry into Ukraine

As of the morning of April 10, approximately 450 trucks were queued towards Ukraine at three border checkpoints blocked by Polish protesters. The majority of them are waiting for the opportunity to cross the border towards the Yahodyn checkpoint.

Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“On the Ukrainian side, the situation regarding the passage and the possibility of crossing the border is a little better in these three directions. However, it is far from the perfect model that was in place at these checkpoints before the traffic blockade. Over the past day, 23 trucks have passed in the direction of the Uhryniv checkpoint. I believe the most difficult situation is in the direction of the Yahodyn checkpoint, as about 70 trucks bound for Ukraine crossed the border over the past day. But let me remind you that the throughput capacity of, say, these two checkpoints are completely different. And the Yahodyn checkpoint is the largest direction which can let 1,200-1,400 trucks pass per day. Based on these numbers, we can see that the situation is quite complicated here. As of this morning, there are a total of 450 freight vehicles queued towards Ukraine in these three directions, with 230 of them waiting for the opportunity to cross the border in the direction of the Yahodyn checkpoint,” Andrii Demchenko said.
