Since the beginning of the occupation of Crimea, russia has been destroying the Ukrainian education system and children’s identity. The ‘Crimean scenario’ is repeated in Zaporizhia and Kherson Oblasts — Anastasiia Vorobiova

Right after the occupation of Crimea in 2014, the russian proxies in administration have begun systematic actions towards destroying the Ukrainian education system and the identity itself wishing Crimean children. Anastasiia Vorobiova, author of the analytical report ‘Crimean Scenario’: How the russian federation Destroys the Ukrainian Identity of Children in the Occupied Territories” and analyst at “Almenda Center for Civic Education” NGO, told more about this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform. 

“What is meant by the ‘Crimean scenario’ replay? First of all, it is a complete transition to russian education standards. It was the russian occupation administration that announced Crimean schools would completely switch to the Russian curriculum in the summer of 2014. That includes the change of teaching materials and academic staff retraining and replacement with those loyal to the new government, the complete absence of teaching Ukrainian studies subjects, limitation of opportunities for Ukrainian language learning. This is the militarization of the educational process — the creation of cadet classes under the patronage of the russian security forces, and the involvement of paramilitary formations in Crimean schools. In the occupied territories of Zaporizhia and Kherson Oblasts, russia began to act following the implemented in 2014 scenario,” Vorobiova said.
