Since start of full-scale invasion, less than 70 russian citizens enter Ukraine – State Border Guard Service

Since the summer of 2022, more than 70 citizens of the russian federation have been granted visas to enter Ukraine. But over this time, not all of these persons crossed the Ukrainian border.

Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“It should be clear that since last year, since the summer, a visa regime was established for citizens of the russian federation seeking entry (to Ukraine – Ed.) and as of now a little over 70 citizens of the russian federation have been granted visas allowing them to cross the border into Ukraine, but not everyone has used this right yet. That is, less than 70 citizens of the russian federation who received visas crossed the border to enter Ukraine,” he said.

In addition, he added that a visa doesn’t constitute an unconditional basis for citizens of the russian federation to be allowed entry to the territory of Ukraine, as they must meet other conditions for crossing the border. In addition to a proper passport, this particularly includes the document confirming the purpose of their trip to Ukraine.
