Since start of full-scale invasion, 6,000 men try to leave Ukraine with forged documents – State Border Guard Service
Every day, on average, about 150 people, mostly men, Ukrainians aged 18 to 60, get turned back at the border, as they do not fall under the category of those who are allowed to leave the country.
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform and disclosed the number of border crossing violations since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“About 6,000 people have been found at checkpoints with forged documents since the full-scale invasion began and the restrictions came into effect at the border. And on the “green section” of the border, more than 13,000 male citizens were detained, who tried to illegally cross the “green section” of the border, bypassing checkpoints, to get outside of Ukraine,” he said.
According to Andrii Demchenko, there is no sharp decrease in attempts to illegally cross the border. In particular, they are recorded both at checkpoints, when citizens try to use forged documents, and outside them – on the “green section” of the border.
“Such attempts are documented by us at checkpoints, when citizens try to use fake documents – and these are recorded mostly at the border with Poland. Actually, the passenger traffic through checkpoints on the border with Poland is one of the heaviest. There are also attempts to illegally cross the border outside the checkpoints, that is, along the “green section” of the border – such attempts are most often recorded on the border with Romania and Moldova. Although in June, a certain decrease in such attempts was recorded there in comparison with May – by about 28%,” explained the Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service.
