School education in Kherson region is conducted exclusively online
Currently, there are 151 schools in the Kherson region, 115 of which are on the right bank. All schools work remotely. A total of 69,000 children are enrolled in the schools, said Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, head of the press office of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, at a briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center.
“So far, the process is only online, because we cannot afford at least a mixed system. But at the same time, bomb shelters are being prepared. A total of 43 schools are currently being equipped with them. There may be mixed or offline education later. As soon as the Left Bank is liberated and there is no more active shelling, children will go to school,” said the spokesman.
According to the administration’s estimates, about a third of the population that was in the city before February 24, 2022, is left in Kherson. Half of them are elderly people.
