Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s Danube ports harm Romania’s tourism industry – Romanian expert

The Danube Delta is an important tourist destination in this country. This was stated by Claudiu Degeratu, an independent expert and associate professor at the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa. 

He also added that Romanian society is against any attacks on Ukraine’s Danube ports and condemns such actions by russia.

“Such attacks are a cause for concern in society, as they affect the social and economic life of our Danube regions. The Danube Delta is very important for Romania’s tourism industry, and any attacks by Russia have a great impact on the tourism industry in this region. And Romania will continue to condemn such attacks,” – the expert said.

However, according to the expert, after the shelling of the port of Izmail on the night of September 3-4, Romania did not increase its presence in the territorial waters near the Danube.

Context: After the shelling of the port of Izmail on the night of September 3-4, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Ukrainian border guards recorded the fall and detonation of drones in Romania. Representatives of the Romanian government said that the wreckage of the drones did not pose a threat to Romanian territory.
