Russia has removed more than 1.3 million museum items from the newly occupied territories, Regional Center for Human Rights says

In 2014, Russia seized Crimea’s entire museum collection outright, hauling 1.3 million items off to Russia. The newly occupied territories are now meeting the same fate.

Andrii Lutsyk, an expert at the Regional Center for Human Rights, described this at the International Forum of the Crimea Platform Expert Network.

“Russia’s culture minister has announced 1.3 million appropriated museum holdings in the ‘new regions,'” he said. “Russia is conducting hundreds of archaeological digs across Crimea and the ‘new regions.'”
