Residents of Odesa region owe almost UAH 1 billion (24.7 million euro) for heating due to war – military administration

As of today, the debt is UAH 925 million (24.7 million euro). Anton Shalyhailo, director of the housing and energy efficiency department of the Odesa regional military administration, said this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

This debt arose, in particular, because in 2022 the Law of Ukraine imposed a moratorium on increasing the cost of district heating services for the population during martial law, the official said.

“Understanding that the cost of district heating services varies while the tariff remains unchanged, the government guaranteed this difference to be compensated to the enterprises producing the service. For 30 regional heating companies, the difference in tariffs exceeded UAH 1 billion (24.7 million euro). We expect that the relevant funds will be included in the State Budget for 2023 and further compensated before the start of the heating season,” – the official added.
