Raise the EU Flags – the Government Calls Ukrainians to Support the European Union Candidacy

Olga Stefanishyna, Vice Prime Minister for the European and Euroatlantic Integration of Ukraine, told about this in Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“We have planned some events on the occasion of being given the EU candidacy to take place on Friday and Monday. A ceremonial event will also take place in the Parliament on July 1. I cannot disclose the details, but we plan to communicate actively. We will start with implementing the tasks that will open the way forward from the very first hours of being granted the candidacy. Of course, we will be most grateful if the local communities join us in celebrating this event by raising the EU flags or organizing other events to mark this occasion,” she said.

Olga Stefanishyna reiterated that the Revolution of Dignity started when the then-President of Ukraine decided that our country was not supposed to join Europe. However, the Ukrainians on Maidan disagreed with that choice.

“Almost 90% of Ukraine’s citizens supported Ukraine’s decision to become a member of the EU. The candidacy is the first legal decision in the history of our independence, indicating that we will become a member of a large family of democratic countries, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for the European and Euroatlantic Integration of Ukraine emphasized.

According to earlier reports, Olga Stefanishyna stated that Ukraine would be given the EU candidacy on June 24.
