Over 80% of Ukrainian businesses opt not to relocate, more than 3% planning to, but yet to decide on location — Mykhailo Leichenko

Businesses in both the western and eastern parts of Ukraine are looking into the possibility of relocating, although the vast majority have decided not to relocate. Mykhailo Leichenko, Deputy Head of Center for Innovations Development, Co-Initiator of the Initiative for the Economic Recovery of Ukraine, made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The business realizes that stabilization of the eastern part of Ukraine will be difficult, therefore it is looking into the possibilities on the territory of Ukraine, and planning relocation abroad. As of January 2023, 80.4% of businesses have not relocated, 9.7% have relocated exclusively in Ukraine, 4.5% — mainly in Ukraine, 1% — mainly abroad, 1.2% — completely abroad, and 3.3% are planning to relocate, but have not decided where yet. It is not only the eastern part of Ukraine that is looking into relocation, the western part is also considering it and determining whether they need to do so, and they relocate in turn,” — Leichenko noted.
