On September 30, Kharkiv will inform the population about vascular and heart diseases and methods of their prevention: Lyubov Makhota

Before the World Heart Day, which is celebrated annually on September 29, a briefing was held in Kharkiv Media Hub with the participation of the head of the Health Department of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Maksym Haustov and the director of the State Institution “Kharkiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”. Lyubov Makhota. They talked about cardiovascular diseases and the dynamics of their spread in the Kharkiv region.

According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Lyubov Makhota, cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of death in the world. The speaker noted that according to the World Health Organization, about 18 million people die every year due to heart problems.

During the briefing, Lyubov Makhota talked about the main factors and risks of developing cardiovascular diseases and how to avoid or reduce the risks of diseases.

– World Health Organization determined the ratio of the main factors in ensuring human health. Thus, the genetic factor and the state of the environment make up 20% each. 10% is medical care; 50% is lifestyle. That is, problems with the heart and blood vessels can be avoided by changing one’s behavior, the speaker said.

Also, the director of the Department of Health of the KhOVA, Maksym Haustov, noted that in the last 4 years, in Ukraine, there has been an almost 4-fold decrease in the mortality rate due to the above-mentioned diseases, but due to the war in Ukraine, constant stress factors, this figure can grow to 70% by the end of this year. In addition, the speaker told what symptoms are observed in heart attacks and acute cerebral strokes and where in the region you can get emergency medical help when such diagnoses are made.

Lyubov Makhota also announced an action for the population on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, dedicated to the celebration of World Heart Day, which will be held by the Kharkiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention with the participation of the Physical Health Center, the Red Cross Society with the assistance of the KhOVA Health Department.

So, according to her, on September 29 at the Kharkiv Railway Station Square, and on the 30th in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation, the population will be informed about vascular and heart diseases and methods of their prevention. There will also be free medical consultations on the right lifestyle, free testing of blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
