NBU to reinstate ban on P2P transfers

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is reinstating the ban on P2P transfers from UAH payment cards to cards of foreign banks on October 5.

Vasyl Furman, Deputy Chair of the Council of the NBU made this statement at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Such money transfers made it possible for Ukrainians to support their relatives and friends, who were forced to leave abroad. After more than 7 months of war, the need for such a tool is diminishing. At the same time, the risks of using it to bypass the risks of buying currency are increasing. Such a measure will contribute to the protection of Ukraine’s international reserves,” — he said.

It is also worth noting that Ukrainians will continue to be able to transfer money abroad to pay for education, medical services, transport of patients, expenses related to death and alimony. In addition, Ukrainians can send funds to a non-resident legal entity.
