Mykyta Poturaiev: Ukrainian religious organizations have no right to maintain any relations with ones originating from the aggressor state

Ukrainian religious organizations have no right to maintain any relations with aggressor state religious organizations. Moreover, they should not be subordinate to such religious organizations in any way.

It was emphasized by Mykyta Poturaiev, Chair of the Humanitarian and Information Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Ukraine does not violate any rules. Since we are not fighting religion, we are not fighting believers. It is not the subject of any of the bills registered in the Verkhovna Rada. With these bills, Ukraine is stipulating that religious organizations located on the territory of the aggressor and occupier state and actually merged with the dictatorship ruling in russia cannot have any relations with Ukrainian religious organizations,” he stressed.

Mykyta Poturaiev is convinced that it is necessary to speed up the process of adopting the draft law developed by the Cabinet of Ministers on the activities of religious organizations that have their governing centers in the territory of the aggressor state.

According to the politician, “delaying the consideration of these laws  leads to a deterioration of the socio-political situation in the country.”

“Ukraine must finally have a law that will allow Ukrainian citizens, politicians, and diplomats to calmly, convincingly, and reasonably communicate with our Western friends and partners and say it has nothing to do with religion, faith, or beliefs. It is exclusively a question of relations with organizations that are actually tools of putin’s dictatorship.”
