“Mobilization and Nuclear Threats Are russia’s Attempt to Extort Better Positions at the Negotiations,” Alina Frolova

Alina Frolova, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine (2019–2020), Deputy Chair of the Board of the Center for Defense Strategies, stated that russia was mobilizing lots of people, and it was not possible to hope they were not able to fight, and that we needed to be prepared to face this challenge.

She said so during her briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Speaking of mobilization in russia, we are not speaking about 300,000. They will draft as much as they need and within the time frame they need. So yes, it can be a million; it can be more. It won’t happen at once or very rapidly. But we need to be prepared. On the one hand, these are unqualified soldiers, and they won’t be as efficient as a professional army; they will make logistics more complicated, and we can see that russia’s logistics are failing,” she said.

According to the expert, the mobilization in russia is carried out in connection with the “referendums.”

“They will integrate new regions into russia, declare the ability to use nuclear weapons, and use these forces to keep the front line. After September 30, they will try to enter negotiations from a good position for themselves. But it is putin’s and russia’s dream. The mobilization and nuclear threats are an attempt to get some break by bargaining,” she said.
