Maximum resources are allocated to security and defense, but there’s never enough funds amidst war – Finance Minister

The maximum available resources of the domestic economy are allocated to the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

Serhii Marchenko, Minister of Finance of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Are there enough funds for the security and defense sector? I will answer very simply – there are never enough funds, especially amidst the war. But to answer the question of whether we can give more – at this stage, this is the maximum that our economy can give. We collected maximum taxes and sent all of them to the security and defense sector. What we have attracted in the domestic market, we are also channeling into the security and defense sector. Therefore, this is our maximum level of capabilities for today, it must be taken into account. Therefore, we are in favor of the rational and efficient use of limited resources for the security and defense sector, this is now the key issue. And, I think that we will be most interested in obtaining the best possible result at the cost of these currently available resources,” Serhii Marchenko explained.

He also emphasized that the country’s budget for 2024 provides for all priority areas as much as possible. First of all, one of the priority areas is the security and defense sector, where it is necessary to introduce and initiate new projects related to preparing and setting up the production of drones and other weapons.
