Kherson Oblast Military Administration told about the readiness of the city and Oblast for the heating season

A number of measures have been taken to prepare Kherson and the Oblast for the heating season. The city is almost fully ready for the start of the season, and residents of the Oblast have been provided with the necessary assistance to ensure warmth in their homes.

This was emphasized by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, head of the press office of the Kherson Oblast Military Administration, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Kherson is almost one hundred percent ready. The only area that remains problematic is the Ostriv district. The russians are targeting this area, and the overhead heating lines there are often damaged by shrapnel, which naturally lowers the readiness of this district. But basically the whole area is ready. USAID has also provided us with cogeneration units that will help heat the city. These are decentralized systems that will use natural gas to generate heat and produce electricity for the city’s grid. So, we hope that this heating season will be even better than the last one,” he said.

According to Tolokonnikov, the residents of the Oblast have received the necessary assistance to heat their homes, in particular, with the help of international organizations.

“As far as the Oblast is concerned, we started working with international organizations in early summer. These organizations helped us last year, and now they have once again offered assistance to people living in coastal areas and socially vulnerable groups by providing firewood or financial aid to help people buy firewood and other heating supplies. To date, 38,000 families have received this assistance. In terms of the Oblast as a whole, the majority of the area is well served,” he added.
