In May, 82 children were injured in Odesa region – Odesa military administration
Most often, 52 times, children were injured on playgrounds, swings, etc. This was reported by Natalia Utiupina, head of the children’s service of the Odesa regional military administration, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.
“In May, we recorded 82 cases of children’s injuries. 10 children were poisoned by medicines, household chemicals, etc., 2 cases were fatal. 20 children were injured in road accidents, two cases were fatal. Four children were bitten by dogs, another child received an electric shock, and 26 children received various injuries at their place of residence or study,” – Utupina noted.
The official also added that cases of children falling out of windows are on the rise in summer. Recently, four such cases have been recorded in Odesa, and three children died.
“The main cause of injuries is child neglect. We recommend finding interesting sections and clubs to keep children busy and under the care of adults,” – Utupina added.
She also noted that one of the most common causes of childhood injuries is injuries of varying severity caused by wheeled vehicles, such as electric scooters, unicycles, gyroscopes, etc.
“Adults need to tell children where they can ride these vehicles and about the rules of the road,” – the official added.
