However, according to human rights activists, this figure is not final. This was stated by Vira Yastrebova, attorney, director of the NGO “Shidna Pravosazahisna Grupa” (Eastern Human Rights Group) at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

“In July 2023, 218 citizens of Ukraine were detained in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, these figures were reported to us by sources of information in the occupied territories. It is worth noting that the occupiers are persistently destroying the Ukrainian identity,” – Yastrebova said.

She cited the case in Mariupol, when the so-called federal security service department in the so-called DPR seized 1,500 copies of Ukrainian literature as “extremist” and detained 15 people in this case.
