Humor and resilience of Ukrainians – Media Center Ukraine launch a war memes web museum

Media Center Ukraine has initiated the War Memes Museum project, an English-language website that collects the prominent memes of the war. It is available on the link https://warmemes.com.ua/.

The platform aims to tell the world audience how Ukrainians stay mentally strong and optimistic and continue to resist the enemy and boldly go to victory, even when a country is having the most difficult time, despite all the horrors of war.

The War Memes Museum is a fascinating timeline starting on February 24, 2022. It contains the most striking memes in English translation. Each has a description of the events of the time to provide context and help understand the humor and creativity of Ukrainians around the topic.

The War Memes Museum will allow the international audience to see the power of Ukrainian humor during the war.

“From the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, our people have found the strength to joke. For each of us, humor has become a vital mechanism of psychological relief and a powerful weapon against the enemy, exposing his lies and weakness. The War Memes Museum will show the world all the creativity, unusual, unique reactions, and views of Ukrainians to the difficult challenges and events taking place in the country. It will show how humor can help to keep one’s spirits up even in the darkest moments,” said Vasyl Samokhvalov, Media Center Ukraine co-founder.

Media Center Ukraine is the country’s main communication platform during the war, which currently operates in four cities: Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Odesa. Since its opening in Kyiv, over 700 briefings have been held with over 2,500 participants. The Media Center cooperates with over 3,500 journalists and over 500 media outlets.
