Guide courses for IDPs to be launched in Odesa
Odesa is enrolling in a tour guide course for internally displaced persons.
This was announced at a briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center by Oleksandr Babich, historian and head of the NGO Society and Historical Heritage.
Such training is first of all the psychological support for IDPs from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and areas where massive battles are ongoing.
“This is a process of adaptation for those who were forced to leave their homes because of the occupation. We provide psychological assistance: people learn something new, become interested, all this distracts them from the difficult memories of the war,” the historian noted. The courses will last four months. The first lesson is scheduled for November 3.
Before the full-scale invasion began, Alexander Babich’s “Tudoy-Syudoy” travel company had held six sets of similar courses. “After completing the courses, about half of the students stay on as guides. This is very good, we are used to such figures – people learn a completely new specialty,” emphasized Alexander Babich.
So far, Mariupol, Mykolaiv, and Kherson region residents have enrolled in the tour guide course in Odesa.
You can still sign up for the course through the hub for IDPs “Gostynna Khata” https://www.hostinnakhata.org/ or at 24 Zhukovskogo Street, phone +38 068 254 66 69, e-mail [email protected].
