Female activists and volunteers make up group of new leaders who can show their mettle in social and political life after war — Olesia Bondar

Ukrainian female activists and volunteers quickly got involved and provided support in various areas when russia’s full-scale invasion began. Olesia Bondar, Director of Ukrainian Women’s Fund, spoke about the importance of such a contribution and threats to new female leaders during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“It seems to me that now it is very important not to miss this group of active new female leaders who appeared because of the war and to support them in the future. So in the post-war period they could show their mettle both in political and social life. We now see the threat that when the electoral laws are revised, quotas may be removed, and then there will be no opportunity for women to get in and participate in political life. This will greatly affect the involvement of women in decision-making in our country,” — Bondar said.
