Ensuring the functioning of NATO’s strategy in the Black Sea region is the only and key element of ensuring stability – Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister

This opinion was expressed by First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Lasha Darsalia at the Black Sea Security Conference.

“The Black Sea is not merely troubled water, it is region of the immense potential and serves as a vital contributor for trade, energy and connectivity. Today the Black Sea plays the crutial role enhancing Europe’s alternative transit in energy routes that bolsters mutual resilience. In this regard, the middle corridor and projects such as the Black Sea submarine electricity cable and the fiber optic cable from Georgia to Romania offer effective solutions to ensuring energy independence and security of Europe. NATO and the European Union’s more active engagement is necessary, as it is the only viable long term solution to the problems in the Black Sea,” said Lasha Darsalia.
