“Energy-wise, Ukraine is a part of the EU,” Director of Energy Industry Research Center
During the war, the Ukrainian energy system has been synchronized with the European energy grid, and energy-wise Ukraine is part of the European Union, Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center said at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We still have work to do in terms of equipment standards, but we’re going down that road and we’re going very fast. There are certain classes of equipment that are used in Ukraine and not used by Europe, because they are simply not needed, for example, the 750 kV line. They are not used in Europe, because there are no such transportation distances. Ukraine is a big country and we need this kind because we transport electricity over long distances. But in everything else, we are absolutely moving towards standardization and very quickly,” — Oleksandr Kharchenko added.
