Enemy fired 356 different shells at liberated Kherson region over the last day – Joint Forces Operation spokesman

Over the past day, the enemy made 82 attacks on the territories of the liberated right-bank Kherson region. The Russian invaders fired 356 shells from mortars, artillery, Grad multiple rocket launchers, tanks and aircraft.

This was stated by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, spokesman for the Kherson Regional Military Administration, at a briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center.

“The city of Kherson was hit by 36 shells yesterday, including a combined attack in the evening with MLRS and shaheds. Our mobile groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated all six “Shaheds” launched. Debris from the downed UAVs damaged warehouses and apartment buildings. Two children in one family were injured, and a pregnant woman was wounded in another family, with a child nearby. It’s good that these are not severe injuries, but now everyone is in the hospital, they are under a lot of stress. Another 13-year-old girl was injured in the leg, but refused to be hospitalized. In total, nine people were injured yesterday evening. A married couple in Antonivka was also wounded and three adults were injured by explosives dropped from a drone. In Tyahynka, two men were injured by artillery fire,” said the Kherson Military Command spokesman.

Oleksandr Tolokonnikov noted that the shelling continued throughout the day, but was especially loud in the evening of December 19: the enemy used combined attacks from various types of weapons.

“The evening shelling with hailstones lasted for about two hours and there were two waves of shaheds. An energy infrastructure facility and a vocational education institution were hit in Kherson district. In Kherson, a kindergarten, a medical facility and a post office were damaged. We will repair them after the victory. We need to push the Russians back at least 30 kilometers from the Dnipro,” the spokesman emphasized.

The speaker also said that specialists from various international organizations are helping to save Kherson residents, and the State Emergency Service is receiving new equipment in the liberated communities.

“More than 700 medics are currently working in Kherson region. They are assisted by Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross. Each community has an outpatient clinic and the ability to quickly transport the wounded to the regional center. In addition, there are fire stations in the communities, and the number of vehicles has been significantly increased to fight fires after shelling and save people,” Tolokonnikov summarized.
