At least three months of fighting – expert on how long the war in Israel will last

According to statements from the Israeli side, at least three months of fighting are needed for the Israeli military to capture Hamas command posts in Gaza. There are also predictions that the war in Israel could last until the end of 2024.

Igor Semyvolos, Executive Director at the Association of Middle East Studies, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“There are different points of view, here one can only rely on statements made by the Israeli side. And there are talks about at least three months of fighting. It is assumed that in three months the Israeli troops will be able to capture all the tunnels, all the command posts of Hamas in Gaza itself. As for other predictions, I heard one (that the war will last – Ed.) by the end of 2024. And here, it seems to me, this prediction is rather political, and it simply predicts the survival strategy for Netanyahu’s government and himself as a politician,” he noted.
