The “Tribunal for putin” initiative presents two complaints to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court: one of them concerns places in Kharkiv region where Ukrainians were held captive and tortured, and the other one – extrajudicial executions of Ukrainians by the russian military. Press conference entitled: “Attack on local authorities: human rights defenders will speak of local government representatives kidnapped by the russians”

Why this is interesting:

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the russians have systematically kidnapped and tortured representatives of local authorities in all occupied territories. The reasons are different: to force locals to cooperate with the occupiers, to obtain lists of people disloyal to the russian federation, to collect important information, etc. In general, according to ZMINA Human Rights Center, since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion the russians have abducted about 600 Ukrainian activists, including almost 130 representatives of the authorities. Some of them were tortured to death.
