Ambassador: Relations between Japan and Ukraine are a special global partnership
Currently, Ukrainian-Japanese relations are more about special global partnerships as the countries are engaged in bilateral dialogue, and even more—on a much broader scale.
It was emphasized by Sergiy Korsunsky, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“Our relations are defined as the Special Global Partnership, meaning that we are engaged in a dialogue that holds significance not only within bilateral ties, or only on issues in which the two sides are interested, but is also envisioned on a much broader level, at the global level. And, as for the international security system, Japan shows its ongoing commitment to regularly engage in all activities towards implementation of the President of Ukraine Peace Formula. Japan also plays one of the top roles, together with the United States, in the International Financial System. And I want to emphasize that there are many things the media are silent about as Japan helps us to receive economic assistance from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the EBRD, and other institutions Ukraine heavily relies on. And this process will only be geared towards growth, there is a great interest,” said Sergiy Korsunsky.
In addition, he added that Japan provides large humanitarian aid through the UN system on a bilateral basis. The ambassador also noted that the country provides unprecedented assistance to more than two thousand Ukrainians who have escaped war and found refuge in Japan.
