Almost three thousand people have been evacuated from Kherson region, – Natalia Humeniuk

People in some areas of the Kherson Oblast refuse to evacuate, waiting for the water to recede naturally. However, rescuers, police, and volunteers are making every effort to convince people of the need for evacuation to conduct. 

It was emphasized by Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform. 

“People are susceptible to the persuasion of rescuers, police, and volunteers working in this area. We are trying to facilitate their evacuation as much as possible. As of today, it is almost three thousand people,” she said.

In addition, she emphasized that evacuation management in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region is currently an arduous task. 

“In particular, the President appealed to international organizations that should join in to influence the occupation authorities and occupation troops to undertake evacuation urgent rescue measures for those people trapped in water disaster. Nevertheless, there are such cases as the rescue of a family from Oleshky, who received help from the Defense Forces even through the ‘gray zone’, in a possible way at that time,” she said and emphasized that if there are opportunities to organize such operations, they will certainly be carried out again.
