About 50,000 livestock lost in war — Ukrainian Agrarian Council

Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chair of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council made this statement at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“Even now we have to be ready for a big reduction in sowing areas for winter crops. The fact that the exports were frozen for half a year led to a reduction in the working capital of agricultural producers. Entering the sowing system when there is no working capital isn’t something many enterprises will go for. There is no working capital, no seed grain, fertilizers. Now we expect that 30% of the fields will not be sown,” — he said.

During the war, farms also suffered great destruction.

“About 50,000 livestock were lost during these six months. We will need to make up for it. Animal husbandry is one of the industries on which we should bet,” — Deputy Chair of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council added.
