About 13,000 Ukrainian refugees currently staying in Israel – Yevgen Korniychuk
Today, there are about 12,000-13,000 Ukrainian citizens, who have sought temporary refuge in Israel since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion.
Yevgen Korniychuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Israel, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“The vast majority of citizens staying here — and fewer of them remained in the country after October 7 (after the Hamas-led attack on Israel – Ed.), so we can talk about 12,000-13,000 people — are employed. They usually have relatives or close friends here, no one just comes here, realizing that the conditions for temporary asylum are a little better in Europe,” he said.
At the same time, Yevgen Korniychuk noted that after the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and before the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, the number of Ukrainian citizens seeking temporary refuge in Israel amounted to 20,000-25,000.
