Yurii Ihnat: We hope to see women among the F-16 pilots
There are aspirations for women to join the ranks of F-16 pilots in the future, but currently, there are no female pilots undergoing the F-16 aircraft training. This was conveyed by Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“We anticipate that women will eventually establish themselves as capable service members mastering F-16 fighter jets, following the lead of the United States and Israel. Women play a significant role in the military today, underscoring the serious attention given to gender policy. Our Kharkiv Air Force University, a specialized institution for the Air Force, boasts many female students who carry out their duties on par with men. Additionally, there are women among the military engineers in brigades who are involved in aircraft maintenance, a fact we’ve highlighted numerous times through our information channels. So, it’s just a matter of time; the key is to expedite the arrival of the planes to our country,” explained Yurii Ihnat.
