Yurii Boiko: Major increase in electricity imports unlikely in November, shift to expect in December

A large uptick in electricity imports is not anticipated in November, though the outlook is set to shift in December, when imports will play a crucial role in maintaining power stability without the need for blackouts. 

Yurii Boiko, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and member of Ukrenergo’s Supervisory Board, provided this information during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“In November, we expect a situation similar to October, with only a moderate increase in imports. While some rise is possible, it won’t be significant, as domestic generation is generally sufficient to keep the system balanced for most hours. So, there won’t be a pressing need for imports in November. But starting in December, imports will become essential in preventing planned outage schedule for consumers and ensuring overall grid stability,” Boiko noted
