WHO reports on help provided to Ukraine since start of full-scale invasion by russia

The WHO team in Ukraine has done a lot to support the health care system in the country and their work continues, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General said at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

«Health care is never a target. Since russia invaded Ukraine WHO has delivered trauma and emergency supplies for use in over 15,000 surgeries and enough medicines and healthcare equipment to serve 650,000 people. We have also provided 15 diesel generators to provide electricity to hospitals and health facilities. Some in the newly accessible areas in Kyiv oblast,» — he said.

WHO Director-General noted that the organization is proactively working in neighboring countries to help the Ukrainians who found refuge in them. In addition, work done by the WHO allowed for three health hubs to operate in the west of Ukraine.
