Up to 30% of producers may reduce the amount of cultivated areas for sowing winter grains – Denys Marchuk
Today, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy has conducted an analysis and collected information on whether it’s expected to reduce the area of winter crop sowing. Currently, producers are not talking about a reduction. However, this issue depends on the possibility of exports. If it does not resume, up to 30% of producers may decrease the amount of sown areas for winter cereals.
It was emphasized by Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“If we do not resume exports through the Black Sea and the ‘solidarity corridors’ and the Danube export route do not work properly, I predict that 20% to 30% of producers will be forced to reduce the amount of sown area for winter grains or to suspend for the whole season because their warehouses will be overflowing with this season’s harvest,” he explained.
Earlier, Denys Marchuk noted that Ukraine plans to harvest about 76 million tons of oilseeds this year.
