Ukrzaliznytsia is preparing to launch a new train to Warsaw

Ukrzaliznytsia is actively working towards expanding and restoring railroad routes to European countries. Thus, a new route to Warsaw is planned to be launched by the end of October.

Oleksandra Vasylenko, Director of International Offices at PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, made this announcement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“We are now trying to expand the number of routes to Poland. We hope that very soon, perhaps by the end of October, but I don’t want to set any final terms, we will get a new train route from Lviv, Rava-Ruska, to Warsaw. This will greatly facilitate passenger access to the market and the number of tickets. This will increase the number of passenger seats. We hope that we will agree on all the issues and be able to provide this service,” she emphasized.

According to Oleksandra Vasylenko, the issues of launching the train routes in Prague and Vienna are being considered, as well as the resumption of the route to Chisinau and Vilnius.

“This is what is on the table now, but again, and it is a matter of commercial feasibility and for these transportation services demand. We understand that we need to provide our passengers with the opportunity to travel not only to the Warsaw air hub but also to provide an alternative, including the Czech Republic, Hungary (Budapest), and Chisinau. And we hope that the Vilnius destination will be added, but how quickly we can update this route remains to be seen,” she explained and added that the company plans to expand its railway connection to other European capitals.
