Ukrainians’ views on current events and future expectations align with 2021 perspectives – report results

In terms of assessing current events, expectations, and future visions, Ukrainians are currently reverting to 2021 perspectives.

Maksym Yelihulashvili, Member of the Board of the Institute for Peace and Common Ground, made this statement during the presentation of the report on challenges related to the reintegration of de-occupied territories and memorialization, which was held at Media Center Ukraine

“In my opinion, there is a visible and quite tangible trend both in the context of fierce arguments and discussions in social networks, in the media, and during the interaction between people, which is that in terms of the expectations, visions for the future and current requests our political and social public opinions are returning to 2021,” he said.

The expert noted that in most aspects the report yielded the same figures as those before the start of the full-scale invasion.

“By and large, by most measures, such as the economy, the political situation, the expectations for the development of events, we are getting rather similar figures as those before the full-scale invasion. And this is a valuable insight that provides an overall reading,” he added.

It is worth noting that this report is based on the results of a series of in-depth interviews from the de-occupied territories as well as the findings from a national survey conducted by the Sociological Group “Rating” in the period from July 5 to 12, 2024.
