Ukrainians returning from abroad more eagerly in July – State Border Guard Service

If in June there were more citizens seeking to exit Ukraine, today the situation is reversed, with more citizens returning from abroad.

Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“In June, more citizens were seeking to exit Ukraine; it was the beginning of the summer season, the vacation season when a lot of people were leaving Ukraine. In July, the situation somewhat changed, with a significant return of citizens to the country being noted. Over the past 24 hours, there were 3,000 more border crossings by Ukrainian citizens entering the country. On Sunday, there were 13,000 more people. In fact, citizens, whose vacation has ended, or those who resolved their issues abroad, are now actively returning,” Andrii Demchenko noted.

According to him, the passenger traffic is rather dynamic at the moment.

“It (passenger traffic – Ed.) has increased since June. If, for example, in the spring months, 80,000-90,000 people could cross the border per day on weekdays, while on weekends the passenger traffic could sometimes reach 100,000 people per day. Now weekdays are at the level of 110,000-120,000 people per day. Over the past day, for example, 114,000 people crossed the border in both directions. And on the weekend, the figure is at almost 130,000 people in both directions,” said the Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service.
