Ukrainians have caused over 10,500 fires in ecosystems, while Russian shelling has caused 350 – State Emergency Service

Over 11,000 fires have broken out in ecosystems in the first four months of 2026. This was stated at the Ukraine Media Center by Viktor Vitovetskyi, director of the Department of Civil Protection and Preventive Activities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“As a result, 27 people died and 32 were injured. And only 350 of the total number of fires in ecosystems were caused by Russian aggression. The rest were caused by humans,” he noted.

At the same time, he noted that there were half as many fires this year as during the same period last year. Rescuers say that cold weather contributed to this.
