Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed all S-400 systems in occupied Crimea and frightened the Russian Navy – expert

Since August 23, Ukrainian defenders have practically destroyed all Russian S-400 air defense systems in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

This was stated at a briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center by journalist and historian Oleksandr Velmozhko, who closely monitors the situation on the Black Sea.

In addition, at the time of the full-scale invasion, the Russians had six submarines in the Black Sea, but now their number has decreased – most likely, there is only one old Alrosa submarine in Sevastopol,  Rostov-on-Don submarine was damaged, and all the others have been withdrawn to Novorossiysk for security reasons.

“It makes no sense to repair ships that have been hit in the docks. They can be hit again in the absence of reliable air defense, and it is impossible to find it in Crimea now,” believes Oleksandr Velmohko.

The expert noted that in early March and April 2022, Ukrainian defenders fired artillery fire from coastal complexes at Russian ships in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, and after the destruction of the cruiser “Moscow”, the landing operation became impossible for the Russian occupiers.

In addition, the historian emphasized that the Russian occupiers are unlikely to attack merchant ships because it would be regarded as an attack on other states and piracy. 

“And pirates are immediately destroyed – they are hanged on rails,” Oleksandr Velmohko summarized.
