Ukraine to expand efforts to identify war casualties using dental records

Ukraine is planning to introduce forensic dentistry as a new method to identify deceased and missing persons, adding to the existing technologies employed to account for those lost in the ongoing war.

Artur Dobroserdov, Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, revealed the plans during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine. 

“We’re not limited to DNA analysis. We also rely on visual identification, data from personal records, and fingerprint examinations. Now, we’re seriously considering incorporating dental records into our toolkit. We aim to leverage the expertise of foreign institutions and adopt these practices in the near future,” Dobroserdov stated.
