Ukraine’s retail sector facing significant shortage of male personnel – Retail Association of Ukraine
The issue of staffing shortages affecting various sectors of the country has also impacted the retail industry. As a result, there is a significant lack of personnel, particularly male workers, in retail today.
Andrii Zhuk, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Retail Association of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“There’s a survey by the Razumkov Centre, suggesting that 53% of Ukrainians consider the lack of personnel to be a problem. And retail is no exception. We are observing a significant problem with our staff, especially men,” said Andrii Zhuk.
Andrii Zhuk suggests that one way to address the staffing shortage in the retail sector is by replacing men with women. He notes that several networks have already begun implementing training programs specifically for women, including those for driving vehicles.
He also focused on digital technologies that help retail overcome current challenges.
“Digital transformation, which is also taking place now, helps with personnel. Previously, when entering a supermarket, you would see a large number of employees working at cash registers. Now, in some stores, the majority of cash registers are self-checkout machines. And this is our future, where technologies will help with these challenges that exist today,” added Andrii Zhuk.
