Ukraine’s measles vaccination rate is dangerously low, Health Ministry warns

Measles, polio, and diphtheria currently pose the greatest threat of infectious diseases to school-aged children in Ukraine.

Ihor Kuzin, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Health, issued this warning during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Measles is the number one threat because it is a dangerous disease. Vaccination against it is absolutely critical,” Kuzin stated. “The measles vaccination coverage rate needs to be at 95%. For the last several years, Ukraine has only achieved a rate between 75% and 85%.”
