Ukraine’s insurance market has almost returned to pre-war levels in 2021

And now it is showing some growth. This was stated by Denys Yastreb, general director of the National association of insurers of Ukraine, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

“There are no special changes, we are holding our positions and our indicators are even growing slightly. In monetary terms, the situation will be the same as in 2021. We will collect UAH 20 billion (approx 481 million euros) in insurance premiums. In terms of payments, the indicators will also be at the level of 2021,” – Yastreb said.

He noted that hull insurance, compulsory civil liability insurance, as well as voluntary health insurance and the Green Card service for those traveling abroad are still in the lead. Although the number of insurance contracts has not yet reached the pre-war level, the expert noted.

He also added that according to the requirements of the National Bank of Ukraine, two companies with Russian capital left the insurance market in the first half of 2023.

Denys Yastreb also noted that in 2023, insurers were increasingly offering customers life, health, and property insurance against war risks.
