In addition to russian shelling, Ukraine’s energy sector is suffering from network degradation – Energy Industry Research Center

Distribution networks in frontline and border regions are suffering from russian attacks. The Chernihiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts are experiencing emergency shutdowns due to constant attacks.

Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Industry Research Center, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Another important factor is the beginning of network degradation. One recent example is Kyiv, where a damaged connection at a high-voltage substation was restored, causing a cascade of technical accidents at smaller substations. After those were repaired, cables burned out at even smaller substations,” he said.
