Ukraine’s grain and oilseed harvest drops by 10 million tons, Agrarian Ministry reports
This year, Ukraine’s grain and oilseed harvest is expected to reach 75 million tons, a decrease of 10 million tons compared to last year.
Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, shared the update during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“Wheat production remains steady at slightly over 22 million tons, while barley output is also stable at around 6 million tons. We’ve achieved a strong rapeseed harvest, and soybeans are expected to hit a historic high of 6 million tons—an absolute record for Ukraine. Additionally, sunflower production will exceed 10 million tons, and we anticipate around 24 million tons of corn,” Vysotskyi stated. “While these are solid figures, they reflect a slight drop from last year’s total of 85 million tons to this year’s 75 million tons.”
Despite the challenges, Vysotskyi emphasized that Ukrainian farmers have not only secured the country’s food supply but have also made substantial contributions to global food security.
