Ukraine reveals National Team for 2025 Invictus Games in Canada
Ukraine’s national team for the Invictus Games 2025, set to take place in Vancouver, Canada, this February, has been announced. The team size has increased from 25 members last year to 35 this year.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Ukraine Media Center.
The national team includes: Andriienko Oleksandr, Androshchuk Oleksandr, Birko Anatolii, Boichuk Andrii, Vasyliev Oleksii, Vasiliuk Oleksii, Haiduk Illia, Horb Oleksii, Hordievych Serhii, Dykyi Viktor, Dudlia Demian, Kaistro Viacheslav, Kapkanets Vladyslav, Kopeliuk Kostiantyn, Korytniuk Pavlo, Korolenko Inna, Lavreniuk Ivan, Marchenko Volodymyr, Mylin Artur, Nasada Andrii, Odainyk Valerii, Oleinyk Ihor, Omelchuk Oleh, Pylypenko Illia, Poltavets Roman, Prytula Oleksii, Riaboshapko Arsen, Senchenko Alla, Serhiichuk Ruslan, Smolnikov Denys, Mykhailo Tarasenko, Tiunin Oleksii, Tyurin Yevhen, Khrapko Serhii, Sharkii Yaroslav.
Ruslana Velychko-Trifoniuk, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for European Integration, explained that the team was selected by a commission adhering to the Invictus Games’ criteria. Selections were based on psychological evaluations, coach and assistant coach recommendations, and sports achievements.
During the press conference, Yulia Kirillova, acting Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, highlighted the importance of sports for rapid rehabilitation.
Alina Frolova, Founder of the Invictus Games in Ukraine, added, “The Invictus Games are about opportunities, and the goal is to showcase these opportunities.”
“It seems to me that Invictus, and we are very proud of it, has become the flagship project in veteran sports. This project initiated legislative changes to define sports rehabilitation as a method of rehabilitation. We are thrilled that what started as a small beginning has grown into a powerful movement. Now, we aim to transform it into an ocean of support, participation, and experience exchange,” emphasized Frolova.
The Invictus Games is an international sports event for servicemen and veterans who have been injured, wounded or become ill in the line of duty. The goal of the Invictus Games is to use sport to promote the recovery and rehabilitation of veterans and servicemen who have been affected during or as a result of their duties in a combat zone.
