Ukraine faces growing risk of water shortage: situation will depend on rainfall

Some parts of Ukraine’s small rivers are already experiencing low water levels, and the situation could worsen without significant rainfall.

This was emphasized by Viktoriia Korniienko, deputy head of the Hydrological Forecasts Department at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Currently, low water levels are being recorded in certain sections of small rivers across Ukraine. Due to the lack of a pronounced spring flood on Ukrainian rivers, we may face a worsening situation as the amount of water in the rivers continues to decline – unless we get significant additional rainfall,” she said.

According to Viktoriia Korniienko, the situation on the rivers of Ukraine in the coming months will depend entirely on rainfall patterns.
